At Target Metabolism, we do not use the scale to weigh you in. Why not?
Because the scale does not tell you what TYPE of weight you are
losing. The scale can be very misleading in one of two ways:
- If you are starving yourself intentionally or unintentionally, the scale might go down (until an inevitable plateau) but the majority of the weight loss will be water and muscle…instead of fat! In this case, the scale becomes a negative-behavior reinforcer.
- If you are changing your life habits at home, but the number on the scale doesn’t change, you may become frustrated and throw aside all your new habits. BUT, who says you didn’t lose 3 lbs of fat and gain 3 lbs of lean mass? The scale does not reflect true changes in your body. THE BODPOD DOES!
